El Cucurucho Beach Club has a prime location with the Mediterranean on one side and Real Club de Golf on the other. It is like a mini resort with meticulously maintained lawns and sun loungers neatly arranged around the pools with the sandy beach just a few steps away and rush umbrellas providing shade.

The restaurant has a superb buffet throughout July and August which has long been a favourite meeting place for Sotogrande residents for lunch and there is also a Chiringuito (beach bar serving drinks and hot snacks) and ice cream bar.

There are four swimming pools - an adult, a family and the supervised childrens area which has a splash pool for infants and a larger pool for older children. There are also showers, sauna, massage and changing rooms. Lifeguards are permanently on duty to ensure safety.

During the peak summer months there are daily activities for all ages of children including:

• Swimming lessons
• Water games - water polo, water basketball, races, balloon games, etc.
• Beach games - volleyball and football, rope and handkerchief games, etc.
• Games gymkhana - relay races, football, treasure hunts, etc.
• Workshops - face painting, pottery, balloon modelling, juggling, etc.

The Sotogrande racquet centre has 4 tennis, 8 paddle tennis and 4 fronton courts. There are tournaments for those who wish to take part and individual and group lessons for all levels.

There is now a supervised childrens play area called Iguana Park where parents can leave their children safe in the knowledge that they will be both well looked after and well entertained. This area includes games facilities, mini-basketball, volleyball, rollerskating and an area for private parties. This is available to people who have paid to use the beach club and to those who have not, e.g. parents taking time out to play golf. The rates are approximately £2 for the first hour and £1 thereafter.

It is possible to pay on a daily, weekly or annual basis except July and August when you have to take a minimum of one weeks membership.

Guests of Almenara Hotel can use El Cucurucho Beach Club free of charge.
